Today we are shooting one scene which is really long. Most people think that you can just film the scene in one shot. Well, that’s not the case. The longer the scene, the longer it will take to do the: insert shot (like a watch), a close up (a face), a wide shot (the whole location) or a P.O.V (point of view or over the shoulder). That means that they have to give enough time to film the scene, including all the separate shots, so they don’t run over time. Some of my lines come randomly in the middle of a scene, so to learn where they go, I find a connection in the line before. Before each shot all the actors get together and have a rehearsal and then we all block. Blocking is as if we are filming but with out rolling.
